About me

My name is Amy Cutting, and I am an author, poet, survivor, and advocate for healing, mental health awareness, disability awareness, and overcoming trauma.

Writing became my voice after years of surviving childhood abuse, emotional trauma, fear, and experiences that deeply affected my mental, emotional, and physical health. I live with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), C-PTSD, trauma-related seizures, and the lasting effects of trauma and brain injury. Through everything I have faced, writing has become one of the ways I process pain, heal, and connect with others who may feel alone in their struggles.

Growing up, I experienced severe emotional, verbal, and physical abuse while also witnessing abuse within my family. These experiences left lasting effects, including anxiety, panic attacks, emotional dysregulation, fear, and struggles with self-worth and safety. For many years, I felt silenced, controlled, and afraid to express emotions or ask for help.

Despite the hardships, I continue to fight for healing, peace, and a better future. I am currently pursuing my English degree while writing books and poetry inspired by my life experiences, survival journey, personal growth, healing, and hope. My goal is to create writing that helps others feel understood, supported, and encouraged — especially survivors, people living with disabilities, and those navigating trauma recovery.

Through my books, poems, and blog, I hope to bring awareness to the realities of abuse, trauma, disability, and mental health while also sharing a message of resilience, faith, healing, and overcoming adversity.

Thank you for being here and supporting my journey. I hope my story reminds others that even after darkness, healing and hope are still possible. 💜

Welcome to the personal writing journey of Amy Cutting — a survivor, author, poet, and advocate for healing, mental health awareness, disability awareness, and overcoming trauma.

This website and blog share my journey through childhood abuse, complex trauma, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), C-PTSD, brain injury, trauma-induced seizures, disability, emotional healing, and learning how to rebuild a life after surviving years of fear, manipulation, and pain.

Growing up, I experienced severe emotional, verbal, and physical abuse while also witnessing abuse within my family. I lived through fear, control, intimidation, emotional neglect, and trauma that affected every part of my life — from panic attacks and emotional dysregulation to self-harm, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and trauma-related neurological symptoms. I also experienced the lasting effects of a near-drowning accident, brain injury, and special needs challenges while trying to survive in an environment where expressing emotions, resting, or feeling safe often did not exist.

This blog speaks openly about:

  • Surviving narcissistic and abusive family dynamics
  • Healing from childhood trauma and C-PTSD
  • Living with Functional Neurological Disorder and trauma-induced seizures
  • Anxiety, panic attacks, and emotional recovery
  • Disability, special needs, and self-acceptance
  • Grief, survival, and rebuilding life after trauma
  • Learning independence after loss and hardship
  • Breaking generational cycles of abuse
  • Healing through writing, poetry, creativity, and faith

Despite the pain, this is not only a story about trauma — it is also a story about survival, resilience, healing, growth, and finding hope again. Through writing, poetry, advocacy, and honesty, I hope to help others feel less alone and remind survivors that their voice matters, their experiences are real, and healing is possible.

Today, I continue pursuing my education, working toward my English degree, writing books about my experiences, and using storytelling as a way to bring awareness, healing, and encouragement to others who may be silently struggling.

This space was created to speak the truth, break the silence surrounding abuse and trauma, and offer hope to those learning how to survive, heal, and reclaim their lives. 💜
